Greetings from Islamorada! Well, early this week had us feeling the effects of tropical storm Gamma and our first major cold front- lots of wind followed by rapidly falling water temps. Oceanside and nearby flats stayed reasonably clear but the backcountry has not had time to settle and for the most part still looks like coffee. Despite this, some bonefish were caught around town(on shrimp) along with some tarpon at the bridges on pilchards . Out back, the water temps dipped under 70 and most of the snook and reds seemed to run for deeper water. This was mostly a bait gig (shrimp on Hank Brown jigheads) but we managed to sight fish a few snook that were hunkered down and just trying to warm up! Yesterday and today the weather really calmed down and the backcountry lit up! Keep those hooks sharp. Until next time...

What's up Pete! I don't want to hear any bitching about the weather down there. Up here in New England it is f... cold. I have to get my calender in order so this spring I can come down and bag some permit for March and do a little poon fishing in May. Talk soon.

What's up guys! Rich how have you been? Long time since the days at Orvis, huh? How was your season? You still slaying the fish at the canal? Hope you're doing well.

Standish, why wait? Get your butt down here, man. Even if the fishing stinks it's still better than shovelling snow. Yesterday was 80, windless with not a cloud in the sky. You should have seen the sunset...

Talk soon-
Pete
