My name is Nate, and I am in town visiting a friend until the 14th of May. Living in Michigan, I have experience fishing for salmon and trout aroung Lake Michigan, but I am interested in doing some fishing this week within a reasonable driving distance of Boston (Glouster-Cape Cod range). Can someone give me some hints as to where we might be able to get fish (any type) around here, and what our best bet for tackle or bait is. Are the stripers around? Bluefish, etc.? Thanks a bunch

Nate, the fastest way to learn about locations, tackle, bait, etc is to read the posts for the last couple of weeks on this board, contact the person who posted, get a map of Eastern MA and start exploring. Generally, stripers are arriving in numbers on the Cape and South Shore as we speak, will get to the North Shore and Boston Harbor in the next week.
Good Fishing

Some places to try are the Rhode Island beaches, first and second, and the South cape waters. I too am a native of Michigan and just learning the places out here. Get a Delorme's Atlas and start mapping places. The beaches in RI would be the best place to start. Did you get to steelhead fish this season? Let me know how you did.
good luck.

Nate:
You may want to call "Fishing The Cape' in Harwich/Chatham. They are one of the best sources for cape fishing info and very helpful. I will be fishing Chatham this Saturday and Sunday. The best spot is the Coast Gaurd light house. Typically in my experience, the second weekend in May is when stripers really start running. High tide in Chatham is 10 and 11 am on Saturday and Sunday
Also in Rhode Island call "The Saltwater Edge" in Newport. There has been fish at First Beach (Easton's Beach on Charts).
