Got a call that Saturday late afternoon (3 PM until Sun Down) there was great fishing off the Coney Island beaches
Gave it a try Sunday morning but fishing was a difference story. At Sun-up Birds were up & working bass 20”- 24” (No Blues) along the CI beach for an 1 Hour or so of pretty good fishing. :) After that, both Boat Traffic & Bright Sun conspired to make fishing a lot more Challenging.
Small pods of Bass would come up and than quickly move off a few hundreds yards. Birds & bass were stretched-out all over from Breeze Point Jetty to the edge of Ambrose Channel. They were up off Manhattan Beach & Coney Island Flats.
You had to be right on top of the boil if you able to get a cast off you had a fish or two at best.
Water Temp. 48-49 deg. Water Clarity Clear Sea Condition Calm Air Temp 40s Wind Little or none
Ended the day very early. I’ll give it a another try on Monday

Thanks for the report. At least the fish were there and you had a chance. One of these days they should get really aggressive.

Must have missed you. Hit the same spots. Water temps dropping I had from 46-50 degrees. At Coney I did get an awsome short blitz , water actually was boiling with bait and fish, then it dissapeared and that was it, over there. And to top it off there was a lady swimming, off Coney Island in a bathing suit!!!! What a nut!!! (#$119) I put 60 miles on boat chasing birds-blues and bass from Coney to Breezy to Sandy Hook! Brain dead trollers all over the place! --124-3 It was very hard to stay on them. ( Only landed 7 stripers to 25" ) Gave up and went back to NY Harbor and had a great time just jigging schoolies all over the place. ( Landed over 50- tagged 1/2 of them ) I call it poor man's Tuna fishing - I break out the light rods and catch the schoolies on them. Usual story put 60 miles on boat to catch fish back where I started! Tight Lines to all! I'll probably stick to schoolies rest of season, tired of putting $100 a trip in fuel tank.
