loose reel seat

Here''s a question for the rod builders- I have a fly rod with a loose reel seat. Is there any way of removing the fighting butt without destroying it. I figure once I get the fighting butt off then I can slip the reel seat off and reapply some epoxy to resecure it. I'm hoping not to have to remove the stripping guides. It is a factory rod also. Thanks in advance. Ron

You may want to search this site using the search pulldown menu above. There was a post on the same subject a few months back.

For the cost of a fighting butt I'd say trash it. Carefully cut it off. Inject the new epoxy. Then clean the blank enough to get a new butt on.
