I am planning a trip to Andros (north) in April or May and need a recommendation for a good dependable guide for a week. Also any accomodation recommendations would be appreciated. In addition to the normal guide requirements equipment and individual must be into safety and be dependable.

Thanks.

I have fished with Phillip Rolle out of Lowe Sound for many years,Phillip is one of the most buttoned down guides on the planet. The only problem is Phillip can only take six fisherpeople-he has two other guides, Elias and Belin. We always stay at the Conch Sound Inn. Bruno is the manager and acting concierge.Hopefully Rose is still there,I love her! Two years ago,Bruno sent a couple of guys out to shoot a boar,we bought an enormous snapper @ the dock, all the booze we could find ,and invited everyone in the 'hood for a party. WHAT A BLAST!! Oh ,by the way,the fishing is great. I have caught several very large bones in the Joulters. If the weather cooperates, you can run down the west side-tarpon,occasional permit, lots of 5-8lb bones some much larger. Phillip insists on at least two boats for the west side, that dammed old safety thing. Contact him at bestbonefishing.com Mick

My son and I fished with Bonefish Bradley

and can't say enough good things about him. He was very personable, accomodating (my son Joey was 9 or 10 at the time), safety minded, knew the waters, tides, fish, and was very competent with fly equipment. We stayed at Small Hope. Out of Small Hope there were 4-5 guides employed a day. Those that were with Bradley did best - by far. This was in part because at that time he chose an ocean flat where as the others chose flats in a tidal creek and we saw many more fish... Our day out resulted in many bonefish, cuda, and a black tip shark. [Note: he did assess ou skill level before choosing where to fish] Enjoy!

Hi Brilin,

Definitely Bonefish Bradley!! He was just great, also with the kids! If you happen to get in touch with him, tell him Eric from Luxembourg/Europe says hi!!!

Treat this as unreliable because it has been awhile... Is Joulters at th N. end of the Island. Dunno here.

Small Hope was very nice. They have SOTs and there was ok bonefish and cuda action (actually got some Muttons too) in the immediate vincinity. Joey and I went North (there's some creeks that cone in) but the bay to the South is supposedly good. An all white deceiver was far and away the best searching pattern - dunno why.

With Bradley we went to an ocean flat to the South of Fresh Creek. The pictures on the link I supplied appear to all be from the flat we were at. The vastness of the flat and the life that entered and exited with the tide was very impressive. Add the fishing was excellent too and we had a great time.

Small Hope to Joulters is 1 1/2 hours to two hours, a good 1 hour (maybe more) by road, followed by 10 - 15 minutes to launch and a 10 - 20 minute boat ride. The Joulters are some of the most beautiful expansive white sand flats anywhere. You can literally wade in ankle deep water all day on the same flat. If you want to fish them, I would suggest staying at the north end. Nicholstown has a few places you can stay at. Phillip is a good fellow.
