The subject sez it all. Started at Poppy early AM. Caught a 20 and a twinky on first two casts, then nothing for the next 1.5 hours.

Tried various spots from Wianno to Centerville, all at beach or estuary mouths or jetties. Bingo! More often than not, the fish were there, aggressively hitting. One ounce Atom poppers were particularly effective. Sizes from 18-26 inches. Definitely some larger ones out there that I just couldn't reach far enough, long enough to entice. Several were spitting up squid, which tells you something about what you should be using for flies/lures.

Bass River at midday was dead, at low incoming, both at mouth and inside.

Worked my way back from Hyannis to Wianno, and the fish were again hitting at dusk although a bit pickier this time. Terns working over pods of bait with some bass breaking underneath.

P.S. Checked the bluefish pluggers at Poppy/South Cape at high tide, later afternoon. Nothing yet.
