I'm going to St.Lucia for new years and taking my 8wt, but I need help on where to go and what to use. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Jeff
Jeff,
Several years back, my wife and I spent a few weeks on St Lucia.
Since this southern Carribbean island is volcanic in origin, there are no flats, or really no other fly fishing opportunities I could find anywhere on the island. And I drove around and looked for three weeks!
On top of that, like every other Caribbean island, it's been hopelessly overfished. If it has/had fins. it's been caught and eaten. Regardless of size.
While we were there, there was an article in the local paper stating how the locals killed and ate the last 7 pairs of some sort of large turtles that have been breeding on the island for ions. Typical for sea turtles, I guess they come ashore at night, on a specific tide, and a specific moon stage. The locals were waiting, and it was good-bye turtles, hello turtle soup.
Word of advice, be careful around Soufrierre, and esp Castries. Drugs are a real problem, and those who use them are not esp nice. (#$119)

Cheers Jeff
