Have you noticed that the striper fishing has slowed a bit in the last couple months? I haven't. ;)

It was so calm tonight, I had to do the afterwork splash. I scraped as much snow as I could off the yak before I loaded it on the car and headed out about 8pm. Perfect night, just cold enough for a little skim ice to start forming.

I paddled out to a spot and started casting, first fish came about three casts in. Then I found them clinging to the bottom, not very active fish, but catchable. (see pic) Bottom bouncing the 9" black sluggo was the ticket to some good action and a couple (barely) legal size fish. The bite slowed down and my rod and boat were covered with ice. Time to go. All in all a surprisingly good bite!

Maybe the thing about the pre-storm bite is true. It may be tough to get out many more times this season.

Over? over?...

Nice report. I'm guessing these are hold overs. Your thoughts.

They had little parkas and knit caps on, so I am pretty certain they are here for the long haul.

I really wimped out on the yak side this year. My big boat is making me soft. The signal quality on your sounder is great, especially since you are using it as a shoot through. Much better than what I'm getting.
