I was still forlorn about taking my boat out 2 weeks ago, but did manage to check out the beaches at Amagansett, East Hampton and Bridgehampton. A west wind had been howling all night and continued strong throughout the day and had churned up the water so badly that the water was brown for atleast 100-150 yards out. Gannets were working that offshore line at every beach I visited and in some areas the birds were very thick. The fish were still there but alas, too far from shore. The best I got to do was commiserate with a couple of guys that were also watching the action from afar. Perhaps next weekend.....
