Got out on Thursday Morning found Birds working up & down Ambrose Channel
Bass still on small side but lots of them. Fishing was very good but fish were small. Got real lucky later in morning found birds & bigger bass right off Coney Island these fish were 26 to over 30 inches. The bass hit anything flys, bucktails, rubber shads dimond jigs & Poppers all worked equally as well.
Back at the dock at noon left birds to chase the Bass while I tried to warm up.
This fishing should last a few more weeks & bass should get bigger
Merry Christmas to All & Good Fishing :)

I always understood that the first significant snowfall sends the bass on their way???????? We're now on our third snowfall in a week.

Seems like the bass-on-herring fishing died out in Montauk this week. The few reports I saw on another website were from people who went out on the Lazy Bones and they couldnt find herring/birds/bass anywhere. So I guess fat lady has sung out there.

Where on earth do these things get started? so funny.. as If the Bass dont live in the snow in the carolinas in the winter. I think it was started by wimps that don't like to fish in the cold!!! You are about the 10th person I have heard say that lately, Frank. Funny thing is I have heard a bunch of Steelheaders ask if it is too cold for Striper fishing, and laugh at me for being out there. Man, atleast I am not waist deep in 33 degree water!!! BTW the water is 50 at Breezy and there is tons of Herring, remains to be seen if the real big fish show up. will keep you posted..
