Just back to the cold and wet snow for Christmas. I managed to get out quite a few times in the last couple weeks while in Florida. I found the juvinile tarpon are twice the size they were when I left in June and there are 1/2 as many. I hooked but did not land the largest to date in the small tarpon ponds/ estuaries, around 25 lbs. on the 5 weight. The fishing for Snook was slow up the rivers but the fish are just starting to push up as the temps. are falling. The flats fishing for Redfish is cool because there are pods of large reds around the edge of the turtle grass flats near boca grande. In addition I did some fishing from the kyak. I brought two new kyaks to florida this fall and I will have the Glacier Bay in Florida this winter so that I can take anglers out in the kyaks when we are having the really low tides we get at this time of year. I have found that this allows us to get into places and sometimes wade to fish that I can not reach in the flats boat, and they will eat a fly....
