Well I'm looking for a new hip pack to carry all my gear in. I had the orvis safepassage and it was great. Does anyone have any suggestions? I've been looking at Fishpond. I need something that will hold up in saltwaterand something will a lot of space.

Try J.W. Outfitters deluxe fanny pack. It is the best.

I use a Lumbar pack from LL Bean, I'm going on 3 seasons with it with no complaints

I just picked up Simms Lumbar Roll Top pack. The best on the market in my opinion.

I used LL Bean's Lumbar Pack on a recent elk hunt and it was excellent. I had modified it to suit my needs by cutting off lots of straps and installed quiet zipper pulls to lessen noise levels, but that was an elk-oriented detail. It is quite large, and in my opinion, too large for flats wading all day. Also, the shoulder strap which takes some weight off your hips could become a casting annoyance.
I'd say travel lighter on the flats, but be prepared with extra gear in the high Rockies in November.
