Ft Lauderdale-Jan 10-13

Hi all,

Any advice on fishing the Ft Lauderdale area in early january. i have to go there on a last minute business trip, and would much rather wet a line after hours than bend an elbow with my co-workers. My plan was to pack a medium spinning outfit with penn 712 reel, some appropriately sized needlefish, mirrolures, poppers, jumping minnows, jigs, etc. Is this appropriate, and what can I expect in that area this time of year?

There is not a whole lot going on fromt he beaches atthis time of year. Have the flks at your hotel give you directions to getto the Nort Jetty of Port everglades. You should have some shots at spanish or ceros on spoons and top water.

The piers are all still danmaged from the hurricanes so shore bound opportunities do not abound.
