Can anyone share tips on DIY bonefish/tarpon on Anegada? I'll be there from 1/13-1/20 with a car. I hired a guide for one day, but am a bit put off by the $550 a day rate (almost Turks&Caicos prices).
Additionally, if anyone will be there at the same time and is interested in sharing a trip/trips let me know.

Anegada is great....you'll have fun fishing with Garfield or Kevin...they're both v. good.
You can wade yourself there, but I think now that it's been discovered the areas right near the Reef Hotel are not so productive anymore. For instance, you evidently used to be able to catch tarpon around the dock out front at night, but they don't show anymore...guess they wised up. When I fished with Kevin a few years back we ran a good 15 mins from the Hotel before starting to pole....the water right near the ARH was kind of murky and stirred up and you needed to get a bit away to get to clear water...there's a lot of traffic in and out of the Hotel dock.
The tarpon at Anegada are small babies (20 lbs), but they have lots of bigger poons around Tortola if you'll be there at all. Just go to any of the beaches/coves on the west side (Smugglers Cove, Cane Garden Bay, Long Bay etc) and look for pelicans diving...if the bait's around, you'll see tarpon crashing it and swimming in the shallows...can very hard to get them to eat, but fun.
