I am looking into buying a travel rod case to hold my 3 piece rods and looking into either Flambeau Bazuka or KIS rod cases. Does anyone has tried one of these? How many FF rods can you store in these? Any feedback is welcome!

Hi there. If you're talking 9 foot 3-piece fly rods, I think
the Flambeau cases are overkill (nothing shorter than 73").
I have the Abel rod case (pretty pricey, pretty tough). I
usually put 5 3-piece fly rods and two 2-piece spinning
rods in it. I wrap an old pillowcase around the parts and
slide 'em in.... a great rod case that you can carry-on
planes and store in most overhead compartments.

I cut down my Flambeau bazooka to fit my 3 pc. 9' rod exactly. You need to drill the rivets out of the base plate and cut the tube to size, reattach the base with machine screws or some such. It provides plenty of protection but is still a little cumbersome.

Well I'm back from Pukhet (Thailand) and must say that my KIS rod case hold up very nicely travelling over 12.000 km back and forth: no scratches on the outside and zero defect on my rods.
Best of all: no one lost it on the tarmac! --127-3-

I would recommend the Abel case. It comes in a single (4-5 rods) or double wide (8+ rods), Built very well.
Yes, I own one. No, I am not affiliated with Abel.
