There is a company in MA that designs and builds canoes and kayaks by the
name of "Cal-Tek Engineering". Does anyone have any experience with their boats/designs? They do not have a web site but they are listed in the ACA guide. Recently read a blurb about a new model called the "Striper", designed
as a fishing canoe...?? (What else is a canoe good for!?)

Any info would be appreciated.
I'm curious.

Thanks

Had not heard of them but I did a Google and called. No website but they will send you literature. Impressive product line from the sound of it.

THey build some Bart Hauthaway models & advertise a 28# double paddle Rob ROy canoe in one of my boat building mags.

Got the following info from Billington Sea Kayak:

CAL-TEK

Greenland 15 – A Bart Hauthaway design built by Dan Sheehan that is 15’ 3” long x 24” wide, 32lbs. in fiberglass. This kayak is a no frills great paddling craft that is fun to develop hip, knee and torso control. I had been borrowing Dan’s own Greenland that Bart built for him several years ago (actually I had been holding his kayak hostage until he built one for me). MSRP at $2038.

Rob Roy – Dan Sheehan is now producing another Bart Hauthaway design called the Rob Roy. This 10’ 6” long, 30” wide fiberglass decked canoe is paddled like a kayak and features a large (4’) cockpit and weighs about 28lbs. A stabile classic design boat for paddling or fishing on ponds, lakes and quiet streams. MSRP at $1678.
