View Full Version : South Side of Croton Point, Hudson River
My brother and another downstate friend told me today that the south side of Croton Point, about 35 miles up the Hudson River from NY City is loaded with striped bass up to 33 inches.
My friend said that quite a few kayakers have been launching in the Croton River and paddiling out under the rail road bridge to the shallow bay south of the Point.
His brother caught and released a 18 pound striper yesterday!
The season is offically closed for striped bass in the Hudson until March!
There are a lot of percha nd white bass in that area too!
The season on them never closes!

Gesh RJ, you sure know how to hurt a guy
Everything is put away, the mrs has me doing chores that simply won't happen in a few months, and it'll be 50 degrees end of week. Sounds like it's time to pull out one of your monster herring patterns, but I am going to try to sit this one out.... We'll see...
I heard the same from a friends neighboors golf partners mechanics dentists brother-in-laws lawyers trainers best friend ;)

Thanks for the report Bob. We miss you out this way. Any plans out heading to The Cape this year?
Quote from NYS DEC, "Additional General Fishing Rules, Regulations &Information"
"A person may not fish for a species (not even catch and release) during the closed season for that species on a given water."
Obviously not enforced locally but thought worth a mention. Keeps me off the water there until March.

Sam,
I did a week in Orleans in June and Sept. in 2005! May do the June trip again this year this year! Although the fishing at Sandy Hook and Raritan Bay in NJ was very strong during the past two Springs during that week.
Tenative camping trip in Spring to do the Breachways and Narragansett Bay on the planing board with dlangan.
A plan to do a week at Orleans June 17 -24, 2006 is also on th boards and we will see who's planing to go and how the spring shapes up inthe Lower Hudson and along the NJ Coast!
