howdy. im interested in hiring guide for flyfishing saturday or sunday feb 10-13. i will be on a business trip and interested in one guided trip. my expectations are pretty fair. interested in baby tarpon, bones or elusive permit. open to ideas of traditional biscayne flats trip or even more inland backcountry adventure. possibly a night excursion for tarpon. i am experienced fly guy for northeast but admittedly a newbie to tropic shots. anyone out here know of a favorable guide; or if you are a guide please pm or email me about my options and rates. my fiance may or may not join me but she is pretty good spin tackle fisherman and let me know if i need to fly this tackle down as well. any input is gladly appreciated. thanks!

As far as the fly fishing part of it I really can't help you beacuser I have a 27' Center Console. If you want to fish for Tarpon, the larger size ones, with conventional gear I can put you on those.
I don't know if I am allowed to put my website on here but since you asked here you go.
Best of Luck

Whilst not an area I've personally fished may I make a couple of suggestions.
It might be worth contacting someone like Jesus at the Biscayne Bay Fly Fishing store. They're extremely knowledgeable and very personable. Their store's quite close to the Down Town area, but you can pick up details from their web site - http://www.biscaynebayflyshop.com/.
The other suggestion is a bit off the wall, but just might appeal. It's to contact Steve Kanter, the 'Land Captain' who operates out of Fort Lauderdale. His operation, as the title suggests, is somewhat unique that he uses a 4X4 to target freshwater exotics, together with Snook and baby Tarpon, in the canal and river systems. Steve's web site is http://www.landcaptain.com/. I've never personally fished with him, the recommendation came from an immigration official when I was transiting back from the Bahamas once. The carry-on rods were the 'give-away' and he held up the queue for a good 5 minutes while he extolled Steve's virtues.
One way or another, have a good trip.

I highly recommend Jorge Valverde at Low Places Guide Services. I first met Jorge when looking for a flats guide on Biscayne and FLA Bay and the guys at Flyfishing Saltwater magazine said Jorge is THE guy. I've been fishing with him every year since. No other guide I've fished with has put me on Bonefish like Jorge has and boy does he have a nack for finding fish . . . BIG fish too : )
His website is www.lowplacesguideservice.com. I'm looking forward to fishing with him again next month.
