Has anyone seen this goofy story that is now an international news item about the message in a bottle sent by Amagansett tackle shop proprietor Harvey Bennett that was supposedly returned to him by an irate Brit after traveling across the ocean??? I got on my computer this morning and it was one of the top stories on the CNN website.

I first saw the story in this week's East Hampton Star, then saw a very funny story in Newsday. If you do a google search, you can see its been picked up worldwide. A few links are below.

Why am I not shocked that Harvey Bennett is in the middle of this one??? "Mr. Biggelsworth"??? Too funny. My personal theory is that some of Harvey's buddies found the bottle when it came ashore a few miles down the beach at Ditch Plains and planned an elaborate hoax.

Very funny. The Newsday article suggests it might be a hoax. I'm with you Frank.
