Help! Can you carry on rods, reels, flies?

Catching a flight this evening. I have a 4pc 8' fly rod in a pvc tube. Are they going to let me carry it on, along with a reel, and trout flies (sz 12-22)? I'm flying Delta out of Portland, OR, if that matters. Everything fits in my carry on. Called the Delta # and they were noncommittal. Thanks. Hate to have to check the bag.

most people adhere to checking bags with flies. hemostats until recently as well. rods reels and wound fly lines ok to carry on for most carriers. of course they'll want to see whats in that pvc tube or at least scan it.
