I am trying to get an over sand pass for Nauset beach and one of the requirements for a pass is a low pressure tire guage (down to 5 pounds) I have ones that go to zero, but the resolution is imprecise. I expect I will need a better guage and have tried to find improved guages at auto parts stores, but to no avail. Any suggestions where such guages can be purchased?
Thanks

Don't worry about it, if it goes to 5lbs then it'll pass. I have a pathfinder that I run on Sandy Neck. Most times I'll run at 18psi if the conditions get real soft then I 'lldrop to 15.

Out at race point head of the meadow When I use to go there sometimes I would have to drop to 12 or less.

You probably want to get down around 12lbs in the coarse deep sand that is common on the ocean side beaches. Letting air out is a pain in the neck and I found a great little gadget at Larrry's tackle shop on the Vineyard. A brass screw on automatic tire deflator, it's about 3" long with a dial that can be preset to deflate a tire to a specified pressure. This little gem lets the air out much faster than other methods and you don't have to worry about letting too much air out. I think it was about $20. and worth every penny. Sure beat the old method of every kid take a tire. I'll add that it's important to run all 4 tires at close to the same pressure on the beach. Didn't really answer your question. Go with a gauge that will get you by and get one or two of these deflators, you won't regret it.
