Spring may be just around the corner but boy is it cold. Last year had the boat in the 2nd week of March. In the old days we would run off to Ambrose Tower or 17 Fathoms for Whiting & Blackfish than later usually 1st or 2nd week of April run south to Manasquan & points south to intercept the Mackerel schools just about the same time the Bass would show up in NY- NJ local waters.
The whiting are gone & spring mackeral run is short & just about history, sad to say blackfish is nothing like it use to be.
But the spring Bass run has been great the past few years. Lets hope history repeats itself & it won't be long before the 1st bass to show up.
