Leaving for Asia tomorrow.......but on the way home, we are stopping off in Maui for a week. Anyone have any updates on fishing from the shore and with what....
I am staying in the Kapalua area ( west northwest corner of the island ). Last time there, I caught NADA.... Beautiful water, beautiful lava outcroppings.....NADA.
Any advise welcomed!
Howie
P.S. Wanted to go to the Bahamas (Andros or Eluthera) but must do this instead due to the illness of a dear friend on Maui.

Howie,
There's a thread going on in the NE forum.
Have fun.

Thanks for the reply on Cetol. Someone told me to use it, but I'm hesitant to seal teak. For years I've been hitting it down with Comet until dry then just oiling it up with oil. The one I find stays on the best is Amazon Teak oil but I've used them all. The "Hawaiin" looking brand is a bit thin but gets down deep. Need to use multi coats to stay bright looking.
Have fun in Maui, hope your buddies alright.

Thanks for the response Bob.......about Maui. Fishing in Maui is more or less non existant. If it does exist, perhaps only a few locals are in the know. The last time I was there I saw some die-hard regulars shore fishing live baits off some incredible lava outcroppings it the high surf. Quite a dramatic setting although I did not see one fish landed. They were fishing for Ulu....a type of Giant Travally which can push 100#s. Other than that, nada happening. And offshore is not such a great deal either because they fish FADs (fish attracting devises) which is a hit and miss.......
