Wachusett opening date?

Does anyone know the date Wachusett Res. is going to open for fishing?

I've tried calling several phone numbers posted online and sent an email that bounced.

Anyone have depth charts or contour maps of the res as well? I went to the MA fisheries site but that map plain sucks...any help is appreciated.

If you want one for Quabbin this is the best one I've ever found. Wish I could find one like this for Wachusett.

Quabbin Reservation Guide Map (waterproof) well worth the $6 if your ever going to fish there. Can buy it at Flagg's Flies on 202.

I asked the state F&W 10 days ago in an email as their web site was last updated April 05 - they responded that they would be contacting the MWRA to get the info. I am writing the MWRA to get the answer and will try and post the info I get back - I'll email it to you as well.

Given that the ice is already out over the entire Res., opening day will be April 1 as usual. Try Wachusette Bait and Tackle on route 12 just past the causeway on the left for a map. They are decent and will get you started.

I just got off the phone with the DCR office in W. Boylston and they told me that fishing access starts April 1st.

The archery and tackle shop at the corner of 12 and 140 in W. Boylston has good maps that show access points, gates, and trails. I don't think I've ever seen a decent map showing bottom contour. But then, it's shore fishing only, you can make a reasonable guess as to the bottom by observing the adjacent land contour.

I have that Quabbin map and I agree it is one hell of a map!
