Hi Trapper,
I heard it is stocked.
I been peeking around there the past few days and each day a few more fishermen are there..
I did not see any action while I was there.
Good Luck if you go .

Pleasant Pond, Wenham
I recently read an article in the Globe about the town of Wenham thinking about limiting parking at Pleasant Pond to only town residents. I guess there are too many teenagers down there driving too fast (there was a fatal accident near there involving a teenage driver earlier this year). I guess the State owns the pond but the town may own the parking area. If parking is severely restricted there I guess you can kiss Trout fishing good bye. I think I read that the state may stop stocking trout there if people can not get access. The article mentioned that they may reserve three stinkin' spots near the ramp. I used to love fishing for trout at Pleasant Pond as a kid and now when I have a chance I like to get out there for some fly rod action from a kayak or belly boat. Looks like that may be a distant memory now.
Anybody else ticked off by this?
When I nosed around there, I noticed that cars were parked on the boat ramp only and there were about 8 people.
The whole parking area was wide open..
I would call Wenham Town Hall and find out if it is resident parking only there now..
Good Luck ,

Let's put it this way,...If they are using the money from license fees to pay for stocking a (public) pond, then how can they privatize the parking lot? If the general public is not allowed to park+fish there, then they should discontinue the stocking. FAIR is FAIR !!

They have been stocking whites pond in concord forever. no parking for non- residents. they do, or did( havn't been there for years) have, I think 2 or 3 spaces for car toppers only. nice, that our money stocks a pond just for the fine residents of concord. It wouldn't shock me to see this happen elsewhere.

It's very similar to a situation up Maine to a lake that I fish once in awhile, where the State record brown trout was caught. The property owners wanted more stocking of fish, the state said " We will no longer stock this lake until there is a PUBLIC boat ramp! Well guess what? The ramp was built really quick!

I have heard of fish being caught at Pleasant this week. The town of Wenham owns the parking spots, the state owns the beach. The local residents became very tight on the parking after a women was crushed against a wall in her front yard while gardening last year. Both her young daughter and husband witnessed the accident. It was a 14 or 15 year old girl from Beverly driving. It happened on the bad corner about halfway down Pleasant St. It was horrible for all parties involved and the town felt it needed to make some adjustments to appease the people who live around the pond and on Pleasant St. as it gets very busy and noisy down there at times. The state said it would stop stocking if there was not any parking so I think the town has relaxed its position but I would check with the town hall.

It would be a shame to loose this pond. I may be dating myself but my grandfather used to take me down there to fish in his homemade plywood pram. There was a bait shop with docks and you could rent a row boat if you wanted to. Of course we had our own coffee can full of garden hackle! This was the place to be on "opening day" As I got a bit older the excitment of Opening Day was to much for me, and my friends. We used to set up a tent and sleep out the "night before" Things sure are changing around here

Ive been here a few times already and have been skunked everytime. Ive only seen 1 fish caught in the 3 times ive been there. The fish are in the shallow water at the far end, once things warm up it will be good fishing.
