Hi guys. I'm sure this topic has been beaten to death in the past, but was just curious about what eveybody likes currently in polarized sunglasses. I primarily sight fish flats. Also, was told by an action optics rep that yellow is fine for mid day as well as morning...was a bit surprised as I always heard that amber would be a better choice when the sun is higher. I am looking at the Costa Del Mar Pescador...is the Wave 580 worth the premium for how I want to use them? All advice is appreciated- Markus

Check out a brand called Kaenon. I got some last year, and they are my favorites. Great lenses, and comfy.

I've had action optics in amber and they worked great. I broke them and then bought a pair of Hobies out of a discount internet sight. Full glass for under $60. They carry many other brands.
One thing to think about. Hobie repairs are here on LI. Plainview. I dropped them on tile one day, broke a lense, drove to the sight and had them fixed on the spot in five minutes for a replacement lense. $30..Good to know, I'll stick with the Hobies as I'm a bit rought on my glasses. Even have them on croakies now since I learned my lesson. By the way, they are in amber as well and work excellent in low light as well as mid morning.

I have been using Costa's in Amber for many years on the flats and love them. I do keep a pair of yellow's with me for the cloudy days. I find the yellow lense a little too bright on a bright sunny day.

Have had a lot of good fortune with Orvis products over the years, but one item I would NOT buy again is their line of Oakley Polarized Sunglasses they carry. They seem to fog up real easy, especially when it is hot and I am sweating.
Never a problem with Action Optics I have previously owned.

Was the action ops rep a flats fisherman?!
AMBER or Copper...I wouldn't even consider another lens color...You will be able to see on cloudy days with those tints...
The Sunrise is going to give you a headache midday...ON a bright sady flat with full sun, why would you try to add yellow?
I got a pair of Maui Jim's to replace my Orvis and they are superior to anything I've ever put on before...

Thx for all the great opinions and info everyone. The one prob I'm having is finding dealers for Costa's and Ocean Waves on Long Island so I can find the proper style. Kind of weird that there aren't any...

Campmor is the best place to get good deals on sunglasses. The Kaenon are there too. I picked up a pair of Revo's that ran about 80-90$ range(retail were $290). All high end stuff for short money.

I have Maui Jim,Costa's and Orvis polarized sunglasses in amber, copper and brown. They all work fine but when it comes down to spotting fish on the flats nothing beats my $19 copper polarized glasses.
