I found one good aspect of being unemployed. There is lots of time to catch up on fly tying! As I will be starting my new job April 10th, I've been taking this less stressful time to tie some of my frequently used flies and try some new patterns. Here's a few pics of some stuff I tied up so far.

The herring patterns are tyed with the Steve Farrah blended material. I really like this stuff. Very easy to work with and adds bulk without mass.

The squid are a bit long but I hope the brighter body colors stand out in the crowd.

The epoxy body sandeels are my go-to fly for just about everything. Olive and white ones are on the way.

Obvioulsy the clousers need no mention.

Real nice work Ray! ;)

Sadly, I've yet to tie a fly thus far in '06. --124-3

Thanks guys. I hope the squids work in the rips.

The others are proven :)

I like your flies they look great. Those squid flies will definately work in the rips I used something similar to that last year and caught everything from stripers to tuna. Have you tried tying Skoks Mushy Squid? I had a lot of success with them and they never foul if tied properly. You can use the Steve Farrah blend and make them in a bunch of colors and sizes.

Ray,

How did you tie the epoxy flies? Recipe/help would be great. Tied a few thanks to first light's classes. Will have to see if they work.

Nice ties Ray. Somehow the idea of a "vacation" doesn't sound so bad... but glad to see you've got a new endeavor on the horizon. (On another note, an unexpected pleasure, I'll be back in Mashpee for the week of 5/13-20- same as last year. Maybe this year I buy lunch! :-% )
