Anyone catch the show last night. The guys were fishing for large tarpon in the keys and were 5 times winners of the local tarpon tournament.
They were fishing a "cookie" fly. It looked like a crab headed pattern with a marabou tail. They showed it several times but not long enough to get a good look. Anyone have the recipe or this pattern?

The fly is called "the toad". There is a fairly extensive article about it in the most recent FF in Saltwaters. Andy Mill has a good life. Married to Chris Everett, former world cup skier, now fishing bum. --127-3-

Thanks, I'll look for the article.
When some one's fly box has ninety percent of one pattern, it must work pretty good.

That entire "Howard Films" series is fantastic!
Really enjoyed the bonefish segment from Andros! :)
All the shows that Andy Mill has been on have been great.
I remember a show w/ Mill & Geo. Bush senior fishing for Char at the artic circle ..... good stuff!

I just tied about a dozen of them before my spring break. It could not be easier to tie up. It's just a chartreuce over yellow double bunny coming off of the bend, with palmered chartreuce maribou around your wraps. Then, tie a merkin coming to the eye of the hook, and small weightless eyes in front. Intended to ride hook point down.

What show are you guys talking about, I don't think I've seen any of them?

The show ran on OLN on Sundays in Feb. Last Thursday night on OLN they ran 2 of the Tarpon episodes back to back. Try to find out when they are running the shows again ...... great stuff!
