NYC film screening "Gotham Fish Tales"

Hey - for any of you living in Brooklyn -
there will be a screening of the NYC fishing film
"Gotham Fish Tales" at The Park Slope Food Coop at
782 Union St. in Park Slope, Brooklyn -
at 7pm this Friday - April 7. Non-Members are Welcome.
It is a one hour documentary on sportfishing around the city by filmmaker Robert Maass. Alas ... no fly fishing - but a well rounded
take on how our city and it's characters bump up against the surrounding water and the fish within.

I caught this on IFC or somewhere, its an entertaining film. Makes you really appreciate the fishing we have access to!

In fact there are some flyfishing bits in the film, and as stated it is a terrific piece of work. Film maker Maass is an avid angler and regular at the Breezy Point jetty. Go see.

Robert Maas showed his film at our club. He's a great guy and the film is riot. It reminded me when I was a kid and fished Sheepshead Bay. Definitly well worth a view.

Another one, which is also great, but a bit of a goofball movie, is Fishing with John.

I liked "Fishing with John" a lot - though some folks might be disappointed
that it is not so much about fishing but about wandering about - say Thailand and trying to fish with such odd characters as Dennis Hopper.
John and Tom Waits (the musician) slog around a brackish creek in Jamacia of all places looking for snook - they are truly inept with totally clunky spinning gear - and it is quite funny. No other fishing show like it - that is for sure.
