Try building a rod. I built a 4 wt over the winter for around fifty bucks. I got the kit rod from Hook & Hackel with everything included. It was a special they were running and the wrapping and assembly only took a couple of days.
The kit used a Rainshadow blank that I'm pleased with, cast great, and I christined the rod yesterday with an 18" + rainbow that the rod handled with no problem.

I've got a 4 pc. sage that is labeled a 5wt but is clearly a 6wt. I have stopped using it b/c it's too much rod for what I fish in VT. It's an entry level model and has limited use over the past two years.
$100 and it's yours.

The series is no longer in use but it's an entry level (don't have the initials here in front of me) similar to the FLi series now.
I fish the waters from Killington to Burlington on both sides of the mountains, my favorite waters are the Otter Creek, Neshobe, and New Haven river.

just wait until you two find a woman to soak up your cash. then the grass wont seem so greener. i have to pay off 50 % of winnings to "wife to be" just to get out to play cards. costa rica base camp is much more important than foolish extra fly rod. btw rand, what did you think of the cortland traveler i lent you?
