Hello folks. I have been loking at getting a mokai when I get back from iraq. how ever I don't know anyone with a boat like this. I was hoping you all could let me know your current thought ( old thread 3 years old now) on this rig. I am not overly concerned about stability as a newbie might be, I used to fish from a canoe where I would throw a 12' diameter cast net standing up. anyways, I am looking for a good boat that would last me a while, yet I could easily transport it ontop of a jeep. primary use would be fishing, secondary just tooling around for peace and quiet. might use it salt water couple times a year at most( flats and channels, texas coast ). If you all think the mokai is not the answer please give me alternatives.

a few notes about me and my style.

200# guy.
likes to have two to four rods. spinning reels types.
live or artificial baits. for bass and cats
usually fishing solo.
no real place to store a boat ( live in military barracks).
would not mind rowing for excersize.
Plan to move to alaska at some point so river ability would be great

you time is appreciated and please bear in mind that I would have this boat a long time likely before I could replace it so I would like advice on what most folks have had success with yak wise should you all recommend not getting the mokai. I tend to buy the best I can the first time I buy cause I am usually happier with the product in the long run.

First off, welcome to RT medic. I've seen the ads for this boat (it's not a yak) and thought it could be fun if they bumped the HP up 3-4X. 15mph does not justify the 100# if you ask me. That and I like the workout and stealth. I can't comment specifically as I have never tried one but I would think the maneuverability would not be as good as a true yak. Is there a reason that you can not or do not want to paddle?

Just to play devel's advocate. 15mph sitting in a small craft on the water will seem fairly fast.
