After reading reports of 75 fish outings and things blowing up I decided to head out and see what I could scrape together on this early season afternoon. When I reached one of my favorite Buzzards Bay locale the "secret" hole had no one fishing there. For some reason I decided to hit another spot just upstream. After a fishless half dozen casts I made my way down to the "spot" to find another guy there bailing away on bass in the 18" range. Well I had no one to blame but myself so I set up stream from him and started casting. This guy is catching fish after fish with me just looking dumb a few feet away. After about a half an hour I got a nice hit and it didnt feel like the schoolies I am used to. Upon landing the fish I realized I had caught a White Perch my first one ever. Over the next 30 mins I managed to land four more Whities and a couple schoolie bass. These White Perch were super fat and fought much better than the local stripers so it was a nice way to spend Easter afternoon. Oh yeah and the super secret lure to my White perch success was one of those good ol' Maria jigs. :brow
