Hello folk,
I normally hang out in the bonefish area but read this forum regularly, especially after being invited to fish a striper tournement in June. I know nothing about striper fly fishing. Should be fun. My question is simple:if limited to one leader and fly, what combination leader/tippit/knot/fly would you suggest from the fly line on down? The tourney is a night time one-fly category and I'd appreciate thoughts on if only one set up can be used what it would be.

Only one fly at night it would be a long (talkin 12") eel punt, very easy to tie and cast. Fished on a straight length of 30lb attached by a loop knot. If the tournamnet is for biggest fish this is the way to go.

My largest night time bass on the fly have all come on eel punts. You need to drift them naturally with a very slow hand twitch retrieve. I've never gotten a hopok up when just casting and stripping.
