I have a trip planned for early July- we are staying in the north middle part of the island I believe. I was wondering if anyone had suggestions for guides to use and what price range I could expect. I am used to the all-inclusive packages so I would like to know how many nickels I need to start saving to be able to fish the most days possible- and also wondering if there are flats accessible for some DIY? Thanks for your help.

I fished Exuma during July in 2003.I would go with the guides from Exuma Guide Association-www.exumabonefish.com.I had 3 different guides on my trip-Reno,Drex,and JJ .Their current rates are $380 for full day.You should probably book your guide before your trip.
The guides picked me up each morning and drove to the south end of the island where the boats are kept. The fishing was A little slower due to being later in the Summer, but it was still worth the trip.
I was able to get discounted Summer rates on my trip ,but not sure if this would still be offered.I did not do any DIY fishing as I fished all 4 days with A guide.
Enjoy the trip.

Glad that you had a good experience with them- thanks for the info. I guess I will re-post a booking inquiry on that web site again- I did that about 3 weeks ago and have yet to hear back from them. And I just noticed there is a FL phone number on the site- maybe will give them a call. Just getting anxious- ready to get out there- has been too long since my last trip.
Exuma would be a great DIY destination if not for the nasty guides association attitudes. The airport flat, Bahama Sound, flats on the north end offer lots of places to fish but if the guides see you expect a confrontation. Other islands in the Bahamian chain are more amenable to DIY for this reason. Best thing to do is fish in the evening in any spots where guides would be working thru the day, and fish where guides are not during the day.
Not sure how the guides are but the Peace and Plenty is located in Georgetown and you should be able to get booked from there in advance. Or if you have more nickels there is a Four Seasons and the maitre'd (sp?) can book for you.
I fished with Reno several years ago. He was good and certainly pleasant. Also fair about the money. We had a day that could have been called a full day but he called it a half day. He also pointed out some places to try on our own-a very popular flat a little south of the center of Georgetown.
