View Full Version : Help Antigua Fishing??
I am Visiting Antigua in 3 weeks time and i am trying to find a guide to help me fly fish for anythin, tarpon, snook, bone as i have never done it before. I have found articles on a guy called Phil (eco tours, fish@actol.com) but emails are sent back. I dont think he guides any more. Getting nervous now, ill still take my rods out but i would prefer a guide. Any ideas???

Hi Muir,
I am also off here at the end of Oct and have done a fair amount of research with limited success.
I have read Phil's superb atricle which helps, but have also had emails from Eco Tours returned.
I get the impression that whilst their is SWFF and bonefish on Antiguia it is not that well established and you are pretty much on your own. I plan to hire a car for the secondf week and just have a drive around and try my hand.
I would be very interested if you manage to find out more!

Hello guys,
I live in Antigua and I met Phil couple months ago. I believe he's still in this business.
I'll call him tomorrow and ask how you can contact him.
Cheers

P.S. There is an annual fishing contest coming this week in Antigua. I'm going there and hopefully will take some pictures --126-3-

Hi Adam/Muir,
Thanks for your compliments ref. my article.
Phil (Guide Eco-tours) is difficult to contact from overseas by phone or e-mail as I found before I visited Antgua. However, once you are on the island give him a ring and he will talk for hours :-) He will also pick you up and guide you from shore or boat (or backwater lagoons).
Bones are not plentiful but very sporting baby tarpon are :-)

I concur...Phil's article was my best resource.
THe one addition I'd make is to drive the dirt tracks south to the bay between Carlisle Bay and Johnson's point. THere were some really interesting flats back there.
The flats near Johnson's beach bar have a lot of jacks, as well.
