Took a quick run over to Holyoke this afternoon. Fuggadaboudit! The torrential downpours of the past few days up north have swelled the Ct river flow to the unfishable point. Lots of the usual spots are simply flooded out. My advice would be to wait at least a couple of days for the river level to drop a bit. Even the derby was postponed until next weekend.
The higher water has helped the Chicopee however, with decent current. People were catching shad throughout the river below the falls, although I wouldn't call it fast fishing. Also, loads of herring have now entered the river, so you can "dart up" some for striper bait.
