&am grey skies quiet water, I headed out of Poppy and headed off towards Susconessit(sp). With all the talk of squid, I thought it would be a good time to try out the Yozuri squid plug (red/white) that I never got a chance to use last spring. Put it on. dropped in the water and let out the line. put the boat in gear/ bam fish on. Nice blue in the 30 28-30 inch ranch. release the fish/ repeat the procedure/repeat the results./ Third time it was a 24 striper/ fourth fish on and the line broke, must of been a kink/knick since it broke 10 ft from the rod. Switched to a light spining rod with a white bucktail with a red streamer on each side. Was in the right place at the right time a pod of stripers went by chasing bait(with bird) and I picked up a 27 inch striper, Was able to get a second try at the school and hooked a 29.5 inch striper, by the time I landed that fish the school and birds were gone. Being a happy camper I spent the next hour just exploring the coastline up to Wianno. Promised the little woman I'd be back before noon.Lots of boats were working the area just outside of Poppy when I returned.
