Anyone with experience with fishing Aruba? I would like to take a rod along on my September 1st - 8th vacation. Where can I find the few flats that are there? Flies?
Thanks

I have made several trips to Aruba and have never found anything that resembles a flat. I've fished on coral flats but that was on a private island owned by the hotel. Best advice I can give is that the island is not friendly to the fly rod. The constant winds make flycasting at best difficult and mostly impossible, even when using a light spinning rod one can not land the lure where it was aimed. I was told that at the highrise part of the island you might be able to find snook. The best place would be at the short piers near the Holiday Inn. The beach from Orangestaad to the runway at the airport might be flyfishable because it is below the wind line, especially in the morning. It's not that great a distance. The best I was able to come up with were grunts. I've never considered the northern part of the island because the water is extreemly rough and dangerous. Hell the Natural Bridge collapsed last year. If I can help you with more information contact me at shaihalude@att.net
plenty of bones in aruba, eager to jump on the fly
key points: the wreck at Malmok, high rise beaches at dawn, airport flat, barcadera, and Baby beach
Spanish lagoon has tarpon but you may need a kayak to get them
good luck
