All I can say is WOW!! I haven't seen shad that thick in the river in years. We got there at about 2000 hrs. It was a little late in the tide but the fish were jumping and finning and breaking all around. You couldn't go two minutes without a fish bouncing off your waders. I hooked a dozen or so and landed 2 nice shad around 5# each. I got to see some great jumps and runs with the ones that got away. I wish I had gotten there a little earlier to see the fish in the low water. I know where I'll be tomorrow night that's for sure. Very little preasure from fisherman. Only 6 guys that I saw. Just a note to anyone going, a Detective from Hanson P.D. stopped to advise us they had several cars broken into between 3 and 5 p.m. yesterday. One guy lost several rods and reels. This place is usually very quiet but just keep an eye out for a group of kids around the parking area. Hanson P.D. said they have the patrols checking the area more often now.
P.S. Thanks Pete :);

Thanks for the report. I'm not surprised, as the water levels are good all over this year. The Connecticut R. is also hot but currently too high. Should come down in the next day or two, then watch out. I used to fish the IndianHead a lot but got tired of the night time partying and rowdies in the parking lot. Holyoke's no prize either, but at least it's daytime fishing and the cops patrol constantly.
