Anybody have this combination?...Here' my "beef": I have the SD/904G Gold+ USNortheast chip; I operate out of New Bedford Harbor, MA; map looks OK (not nearly as good as the package insert, of course), but the chart is LOADED with inscrutable pop-ups which appear just about anywhere I go with the cursor, even at max. zoom...these do NOT go away when I disable pop-ups in the "Map Data" page. Here's the problem: I cannot create cursor waypoints at many of these spots; on first press of "WPT" key, unit displays a page titled "Point Objects" and lists some stuff such as "Named Waterway", "Fairway",depth at tidal stages, and others I can't recall right now (I haven't recieved my [$40!] power cable for home use yet); second press of "WPT" gives me that "You Can't Do This!" beep and nothing happens and I have to "Exit". If I really poke around and find some spot that doesn't pop-up with "[DRVAL1]" I can set a wpt., but these seem to be out of the channels in the harbor area for the most part. I've had Lowr. and Navionics on the phone and they basically both give me the shrug and point to the other (neither can even tell me what the %#*! "[DRVAL1]" is...Navionics says "ask the Govt."!). Of course I can disable the chip and go back to the built-in cartoon map to enter those points...how convenient!! My unit's software is the latest (1.3) and the plotting is really astoundingly good and admittedly this is my first chartplotter and I'm not a young tech-savvy guy, but I sure would like to mark my way in/out and through my home port without having to switch in and out of maps. I'm getting a very late start on my season between this remove/install of electronics and the lovely "Spring" WX we've had in NE this year (actually haven't left the harbor yet!) and learning this thing's obviously gonna be a process for me. Any ideas on this? Thanks in advance, Captains! -Tom C.
