Thought I'd better say something. A week or so ago several cases of Malaria were detected in Exuma. Now it's up to 16 cases. The CDC and State Dept. are issuing warnings (according to the press) about travel.
So far no other cases have turned up on other islands and they think the original cases came from Haitian illegals caught there a few weeks ago.
They are taking this VERY seriously and spraying, decontaminating lakes etc.
If you're coming to Exuma, check with your DR.

Thanks Frank, That's a good heads up!

I don't know if they currently have any kind of vaccine to stop Malaria, I do know that the old Malaria pills I took in Nam didn't work very well. I damn near died from Falciparum Malaria back in 68.
If you are heading there be very careful and protected, it only takes one bite.

It seems as if an American and a Canadian have each contracted Malaria. The Canadian Gov't has now issued warnings too.
Other than that, the fishing is good.
