I'm planning a trip to the Pittsburg, NH area in late Sept. Has anyone had much luck with any of the local brookie ponds that late in the season? We might try Back lake, Big Diamond and Moose. Any suggestions????
Thanks!

Can't comment too much on the lakes but I have fished the river (stretch between lake Francis and 1st Lake) and see some huge brookies in there. I have helped to land a number of fish over 5lbs. in that stretch. All the fish of that size I have seen hooked into were caught on streamers with weight (muddlers, wollybuggers). I try to get up there that late in the season so I know the river brookies are still active at that time.

We were there in late August last year. Ponds were too warm. Absolutely dead. We tried to fish them from bellyboats, but fish were already gone. However, we caught many brookies (and a few biggies) in the tailwater river sections.
