May 6th I was down at the Agawam river checking out the herring. Thought I might have seen a sea-run swim through the fish ladder.
May 13th I heard the Herring guy netted 4 sea run at that same spot.
Does anybody know about sea-run browns in the Agawam? Do they stock? How is the fishery?
Everytime I've went out fishing for them it has been slow

It's always intrigued me about that river, but I've never tried.
Chances are that those fish you saw and heard about were simple Spring stockies. They stock that little river each Spring. I don't know if any ever go out to sea, but I have caught Brown trout up the other end, as high as Glen Charlie Pond (while bass fishing) in the past.
Also, Bill Downing and myself witnessed various salt water shad in the ladder over the last couple weeks. Hopefully your source knows the difference. ;-);
Also, I think the time of year may be all wrong. From what I understand about those mythical sea-runs, isn't late fall and winter the time to get into them? (the fish of a thousand casts and 10 frozen fingers);
I have tried Scorton Creek to no avail. Coonamessett River is also suppose to be good at times.
Good Luck.
A friend of mine sxcooping herring from the Coonamessett river the other day came up with a sea-run brown!
