Fished the flood and outgoing today under calm winds with no weekend traffic, heavy overcast & 70F. Hit the mussel flats off Farm Creek and into the creek; grabbed about a dozen 18" fish with a std. sand eel pattern fished with floating line. Fish were very active and feeding agressively, two were taken on a green foam 2/0 pencil popper. Mid tide headed to Emerson's Rocks on Plum Island and found more schoolies, seals. Stuck with the popper and the fish were silly over it; all twinks. Heading back along Cranes in the "bowl" spooked some fish on top in 10' of water over sand. Stopped and drifted, made 4 - 5 dozen casts and then had one WHALE of a strike under a huge swirl and set thte hook only to get bit clean off. Switched to metal leader; nothin'.
All in all not a bad way to kill an afternoon! :-%
