I've had a Patagonia SST for 8-9 years and it is bombproof. I've fished in it tons in salt, and a great deal in very raw conditions in the Northeast, Pacific Northwest, US and Canadian Rockies and Alaska. It has never disappointed. Ever. A few weeks ago, it blew off the deck of my boat as we shot across Salem Harbor. I didn't realize this until I got home and looked for my cell phone and wallet which were stored in a zip-loc bag inside it. I thought perhaps that I had left it aboard and that my partner had removed it after dropping me at the dock. Lucky for me, Randy Sigler, a local guide, had picked up the jacket floating a mile off Marblehead, found the phone, and called the last-dialed number. I got back all of the items--all in perfect condition.

I will say that for awhile, there, I was thinking that I might have an excuse to get my other pick for wading jackets, the Simms Rivertek guide jacket which is tremendous, too. Simms has got it dialed in.

The Patagonia SST is no-nonsense and has softened up a great deal in recent years. Can't go wrong with this jacket--it's pricey but certainly worth the investment.
