In the "good old days," the hotspots were often closely guarded secrets because people spent lifetimes searching them out and understanding what time, tactics, etc., were successful there. Can't we all remember a time when we stood in a tackle shop smiling to ourselves while others mourned the lack of fish? It was fun holding on to the secret, knowing soon enough the fish would move on or the secret would be made public. Time on the water is a commitment and yields more insights because you're out there getting wet. When you've worked hard to locate some fish you've earned the opportunity to catch them. (Before you say you're too busy with work and family, remember guys like Lou Tabory who had as many responsibilities and as little "time" as any family man and yet made himself into an expert by dedicating himself to his passion.)

Privacy is very hard to come by these days - literally everywhere I go I see others fishing there too. While I enjoy the company of fellow fisherman, it is also very special when I can fish alone, watch the stars brighten overhead, hear the line slip through my guides and have a few quiet words spoken with myself.

The internet is changing the way we communicate with each other - for good or ill. We seem to expect instant replies to questions which used to take much longer to answer. But each one of us should be allowed to live our own lives. I wonder about the motivations of someone who posts fishing reports of his own free will then complains when he perceives a lack of equitable responses. Simple solution Scottne, stop posting and let the rest of us enjoy the board in whatever way we choose or post your reports happily and we will thank you just for the chance to read about fishing when we can't get away ourselves. -Mumichog

You all can read my g$%d*(# posts.

Just kidding. I haven't been on the New England board for a while (focusing on tracking the fish nearer my fishing grounds). I'm glad that the "edge" isn't gone on this board.

I know a lot of folks question the edge this forum has had, and I strongly support the actions RT took to address some excess, but still I'm glad to see some "salt" left in the posts. Boy the NY/NJ board can get boring in response.

Any quesses why this forum always seems so "hot"?
