Here in the UK we have had to live with restrictions regarding taking fishing tackle on board as hand luggage in a word you CAN'T.
I bought an Orvis safe passage rolling duffle bag it holds 5 4piece rods and all my requirement for 2 weeks flats fishing I secure it with plastic cable ties as over here you can't lock the luggage but if security wish to search the bag they simply cut off the cable tie and replace it.
So far touch wood I haven’t lost anything on trips to Bahamas and Cuba. I think we will all have to get used to the fact that we will no longer be able to take our gear on board. It’s a pain in the ass but I would rather have a few restrictions than be dead.
