"Pointdiver" will be searching CC Bay today for several species. I'll be monitoring and hailing on 68 if anyone wants to share info. I'l have the BIG rod with me just in case. :brow

I'll report later good, bad or embrassed!

OOf - took my dad out this morning from Scituate - cleared the harbor at 5:15 and it was FAC so I say "why dont we buzz over to P-town to catch some big blues, see some whales, and maybe see some tuna?" Seemd like a good idea until about 1/2 hr after we got there the wind really kicked up out of NW and we soon had solid 4 footers with a couple 5s thrown in for good measure - and all whitecaps. Not a lot of fun in an 18' skiff - it took over 2 1/2 hrs to get back to Scituate at 9 knts - good news is a few big blues came to the boat and we saw the amazing whale show everyone has been writing about. No tuna seen at all.

Note to self - don't EVER go across CCB in my boat again if the wind even hints at a northerly direction...

I hear you Canonball!

I've done that crossing one two many times. The last time my wife was on board and I'm still hearing about it. Anyway I decided not to fight those rollers coming in outside of the Gurnet and kept to the west side of CC Bay. Good news (I guess) is I found lots and lots of bluefishjust south of the Gurnet. Some boils were so explosive I thought they were tuna at first. But alas they were not.

Caught bluesfish on the surface until my arms ached and my skin was burnt.
All in all a great day for me as I will only get a handful of days on the water this year. Back to the goolag tomorrow.

CB - I can't believe you made the run across today..wow! Granted, maybe I'm super cautious but at 5:30 I actually looked out the mouth of the river and turned by Mike (muddog flies) Rice and joked about how it was not the day to run to P-Town. We did finally sneak outside the river a little while later and it was pretty snotty. But we did find plenty of big hungry Bluefish. Nice to have them back. Couldn't believe the amount of Peanut Bunker in the water too. What a change a week can make. --127-3-

Was dad on the boat CB? Maybe up on the bow? :brow

Yup - Dad was on-board, but no one was on the bow! Funny - at 5:15 or whenever we left it wasn't bad going over - running 25 mph no problem. If it were just me I never would have gone over, but my dad has never been over there and I wanted him to see the Race, whales etc.

It looked pretty nasty from the river but the mouth can be deceptive at times. Snuck out this morning for a bit and ran into Flynny. Blues, blues and more blues. What a blast they are on the fly rod.

Swashy....the bite died down soon after you left believe it or not. It was like turning off a light switch, all of a sudden they disappeared with just sporadic top water blitzes here and there, but they were gone by the time you'd get to them.

Flynny - sorry to hear that. When I left I didn't think anything would turn that off it was going so well. Well I'll be out again tomorrow morning. Have someone in from out of town who wants to get out. Hope we can find them again. I'll let you know.
