Took a chance and parked the vehicle at Blacks beach late afternoon. Paddled out to the right and fished the rocks towards Graves Beach. Yep the big swimm floats go all the way out to Graves Island on the shallow side didn't check the other side.
Found nothing, except a first for me. one small bassy looking critter, black, smallish mouth with small square teeth. I then headed back towards Coolidge point but was treated to the sight of several large and very loud fast runners coming out of Kettle cove. So much for that. Fished awhile longer along the rocks until just before dark and then headed to Coolidge point again. As i was starting to paddle around the large boulder at the tip I spotted some breaking fish. First cast an immediate hook up and a 26" fish to show for it. Tried again but the fish had move further into the cove. Paddled a bit closer and again an immediate hook up with a much shorter fish. Got him off the hook and tried sevral more times but no joy. Paddled up into the cove, acroos and along the rocks on the far side. Nothing!!!
It was getting really dark at this time and I had forgotten my stern light so fished my way back close to the rocks with nothing to show for it. Water clarity was excellent, temps 62-63 and almost FAC. I thought I would have some trouble with the North wind from earlier in the day blowing me out but it quit just before dark.
Got back to the car around 9pm and no ticket. Not a bad thing since I saw a cruiser go by just before I got in.
Stopped at Woodmans on the way home for some clams and a beer. Not a bad way to spend a Saturday evening.
