I'm going fishing Thurs. with and 80 year guy that has a 32' Albin that doesn't get often and wants to go tuna fishing. I asked him if had a permit and he said no. Wondering what the penalties are if we get caught. Not to excited going on his boat without a permit. Just found out tonight that he didn't have one. Thanks

Just need to get all the info. on his boat and I'll do it for him. I'll be bringing over $1700.00 in rods and reels on the boat and I'm not taking any chances loosing them. His attitude is "we'll deal with it when we have to". I need to get a hold of him tomorrow or cancel. Not sure what I thinking. Thanks

In the time you posted you could have gotten the permit.

Not really, the permit is for the boat not the person. Without the boat and owner's info he can't do anything. Also, the owner will need to sign it.

you can sign it as a proxy. I have done it the last few seasons for my brother.

A lot more than the $22- for the permit.

Depending on who the law enforcement officer is, and the circumstances,(ignorance is not a valid excuse, if you have the tackle, you knew what you were doing).
It can be four figures or greater. Buy the permit online, and then you don't have to worry about it, because they are in unmarked boats observing.

Penalty can be confiscation of tackle, boat, car and trailer.
